It’s very interesting how some mangakas, authors in general, speak of their characters as if they’re alive and have minds of their own—as if they’re in control of their own fate. Sometimes they’re even taken aback by their actions, intrigued by their choices, and unable to answer even the simplest questions regarding some of their feelings and motives. I guess characters do take matters into their own hands, even surprising their creators in the process, whose sole role becomes to follow them down whichever path they set on and narrate their predetermined stories.
